Dr. Brifkani completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa where he majored in Biochemistry before going on to medical school at Saba University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University in Norwalk, Connecticut in 2020, followed by a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell in New York City in 2021. Dr. Brifkani is dual Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Prior to joining Strong Memorial Hospital he practiced rural medicine primarily in the underserved communities of Newark and Clifton Springs, NY where he cared for a diverse population in settings including post-acute rehab and long-term care, a chronic ventilator unit, ElderOne's PACE program, and as a hospitalist. During that time Dr. Brifkani also served as Associate Program Director for the Geriatric Fellowship Program at Rochester Regional Health and was an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, teaching 3rd- and 4th-year medical students about geriatric medicine. His interests include medical education and incorporating point-of-care ultrasound into daily practice.
